Helen Jordan Queen

Helen Marie Jordan Queen, 83, of 89 Haw Creek Circle, Asheville, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Memorial Mission Hospital. Mrs. Queen was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late James Reagan and Ottie Stewart Jordan. She was married to Delmer Guy Queen, who died September 11, 2004. Mrs. Queen was retired from Southern Bell and was a member of the Pioneers of Southern Bell and Groce United Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, Randy Queen and his wife Melba of Asheville; one daughter, Susan Townsend of Fletcher; and four grandchildren, Steven Queen of Asheville, Christopher Queen and his wife Amy of Charleston, SC, Brandon Queen of Greensboro and Amanda Townsend of Fletcher. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Groce United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl Johnson and the Rev. Kris Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery with Chris Queen, Allen Queen, Gary King, Jack Bass, Bud Gibson and George Lankston serving as the pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church and at other times will be at the home of Randy and Melba Queen, 464 Old Haw Creek Road, Asheville.
