Asheville Butterfly TrailGail Cook Lunsford, 86, went home to be with our Lord on September 26, 2026.
Gail was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Mildred Cook and the wife of the late Grady Lunsford. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Cowan.
She leaves behind her sons, Keith Lunsford (Tonda) and Mark Lunsford (Susan); grandchildren, Matthew Cowan (Amanda), Tabitha Lunsford (Frank), Erica Crowder (Doug), and Britney DeHart (Bryan); great-grandchildren, Audessa, Dallas, Titus, Courtney, Zora, Robert, Criseyde, Aiden, Justus, Audrey, Camden, and Lilian; and great-great-grandchildren, Jasper and Camryn.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Church of the Redeemer, 1201 Riverside Dr., Asheville, NC. The Rev. Dr. Robert Reese will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Church of the Redeemer Flower Fund.
