Max Arless Rymer, 94, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at his home.
Max was born in Alexander, NC, to the late Alvin Rymer and Vernie Estelle Reemes. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Bridges Rymer; sister, Margaret DeBruhl; and brother, Russell Rymer.
Mr. Rymer proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He later worked in industrial sewing machine repair at Mills Manufacturing and Diamond Brand. He was a jack of all trades. He could fix or make anything, but really loved wood working.
He is survived by his children, Vicky Hedden (Randee), Steve Rymer (Cathey), and Cheryl Pettit (Gene); brother, Keith Rymer; sister, Leneice White; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and special friend and โadopted daughterโ, Linda Ward.
The family would like to express their thanks to CarePartners Hospice for their care of Mr. Rymer.
Mr. Rymer will lie in state on Friday, September 4 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue, for those wishing to pay their respects.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Ricky Wolfe officiating.
Memorials in Maxโs honor may be made to the Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, 373 N. Turkey Creek, Leicester, NC 28748.
