Roger Allen Shook

Roger Allen Shook, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, surrounded by his family and pets.
A native of Madison Co., NC, Roger was a son of the late Temple and Nova English Shook. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joan Adams, and brother, Ted Shook.
Mr. Shook proudly served the country he loved in the U.S. Navy. Following the service, he earned his degree in manufacturing engineering. He also loved his church, Liberty Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and being βPoppyβ to his great-nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sherry Hamlin Shook; daughter, April Holcombe (Kurt); sister, Kaye Hamlin; brothers, Vernon (Edna), Dewey (Gloria), Bill (Glenda), and James Shook; sister-in-law, Linda Shook; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews whom he loved; and his dog, Dolly, his loyal companion who never left his side.
His family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Liberty Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Derrick McCarson will officiate, with military honors performed by the U.S. Navy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund, 875 Monte Vista Rd., Candler, NC 28715.
