Eva Elizabeth (Beth) Lindsey, age 69, died peacefully in her home in Asheville surrounded by family on August 16, 2026 following a courageous two year journey with cancer. Born August 27, 1956 in Asheville to the late John “Jack” Klopp and the late Mary Jane Edwards Klopp. She was also preceded in death by her sister Margaret.

Beth moved to Ohio at an early age and remained there through her formative youth years. She graduated from Fairfield High School and continued on to receive her undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati. Her early career included working for Weyerhaeuser and Wallace Hardware in lumber sales. Later she attended Western Carolina University and received a Masters in School Counseling.

She worked in Henderson County and Buncombe county schools for 23 years serving at Rugby Middle School, Cane Creek Middle School, and finishing her career at Glen Arden Elementary School. Her devotion to kids and supporting their education and growth led her to being awarded the 2003 NC Middle School Counselor of the Year. She was recognized on several occasions for her presentations, creative curriculums, and compassionate counseling style.

Beth was also an avid swimmer having swam throughout her formative years and as an AAU swimmer at the University of Cincinnati. She went on to teach swim lessons for many years and was an assistant coach for the swim teams at Cane Creek Middle School and TC Roberson High School.

She was a devoted member of Covenant Community Church and was active in facilitating women’s bible studies and zoom classes. She was also regularly engaged in service work throughout the community.

In retirement she greatly enjoyed traveling and exploring new places with family and friends. Notable trips included visiting Costa Rica, many US National Parks, and countless trips to the beach. No matter where she was, she was known to marvel in the awe of a beautiful sunrise or sunset.

To many Beth was affectionately known as “Frieda Flash” and was an enthusiastic scrapbooker. She found value in capturing and appreciating even the small moments with the people that brought meaning and value to her life.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, Gigi, and sister and was affectionately known as Auntie Beth to her many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James “Jim” Lindsey; daughter, Laura Lindsey and spouse Brett of Durham, NC; son, Ryan Lindsey and spouse Kaila of Charlotte, NC; along with grandchildren Eva Lee & Nora Lindsey-Hart of Durham, NC and Maverick & Eleanor Lindsey of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her sister, Kathryn and husband Ron Heatherly of Clyde, NC and brother, Charles “Chuck” Klopp and wife Toni of Mobile, AL.

The family would like to thank the remarkable Hospice care team including Tim, BobbyJo, Amanda, and Nick for their amazing care and support. In lieu of flowers, Beth’s wishes and the family’s request are for donations to be made to Duke Cancer Center, CarePartners Hospice, and Covenant Community Church.

A Celebration of Life is tentatively scheduled in September at Covenant Community Church. More details will be shared as plans are finalized.
