Today, we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Nancy Hare (Nana)—a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, and so much more.
Nancy was born on March 18, 1947. On August 14, 2026, at 2:25 p.m., she left this world to be with her Lord and Savior. While our hearts are broken by her passing, we can find comfort knowing that she is now at peace and in the presence of God.
Nancy’s faith was an important part of who she was. She loved her church family tremendously. Her church was not simply a place she attended—it was a community of people she loved, cared about, and considered part of her family. The friendships, fellowship, prayers, and love she shared with her church family meant so much to her.
Nancy shared an incredible 63 years of marriage with her husband, Donald Hare. Sixty-three years of love, memories, laughter, challenges, and a life built together is something truly special. Their marriage was a beautiful part of Nancy’s life, and the love they shared will always be remembered.
Nancy was the kind of person who was always there for the people she loved. She didn’t just care for her family; she cared for so many others. She took care of many children throughout her life and gave them the love, attention, and care they needed. Helping others was simply who Nancy was. She had a heart big enough to make people feel like family.
Nancy was also a devoted mother to her daughter, Renee Fish, and son-in-law, Jake Fish. Nancy loved Renee deeply and welcomed Jake as part of her family. The love they shared and the family they built together were an important part of Nancy’s life and she was truly Renee’s best friend.
And then there were her grandchildren: Matthew Mullinax, Hannah Mullinax, Haley Fish, Hannah Fish, Zachary Fish, Ricky Harris, and Jimmy Harris. Each of them held a special place in Nancy’s heart. She loved being their grandmother, and the memories they made together will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Nancy was more than just a mother and grandmother. She was a friend, an aunt, a sister, a caregiver, and someone people could turn to when they needed love or support. She touched so many lives, and there are people today who are better because Nancy was a part of their lives.
Nancy leaves behind her beloved husband, Donald Hare; her daughter, Renee Fish; her son-in-law, Jake Fish; her sister, Wanda Burrell Hurst; her grandchildren, Matthew Mullinax, Hannah Mullinax, Haley Fish, Hannah Fish, Zachary Fish, Ricky Harris, and Jimmy Harris; her niece, Karen Arrona and Leon; Rick, Debbie’s husband; and many other nieces, nephews, family members, friends, church family, and loved ones whose lives she touched.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Margaret and George Burrell; her two brothers, Jim Burrell and Tommy Burrell; and a very special person, Debbie, who held a meaningful place in Nancy’s heart.
We can find comfort in imagining Nancy being reunited with those she loved and missed, while resting peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
Her passing leaves a space that cannot be filled. There will be days when we wish we could pick up the phone and call her. There will be moments when we expect to see her, hear her voice, or hear her laugh. And there will be memories that bring tears to our eyes.
But those memories are also a gift.
Nancy’s love will live on through Donald, Renee, Jake, Wanda, her grandchildren, Karen, Rick, her nieces and nephews, her church family, her friends, and every person she cared for throughout her life.
Mom, we wish we could have had more time with you. We wish we could have one more conversation, one more hug, one more laugh, and one more chance to tell you just how much you meant to us.
Thank you for loving us.
Thank you for taking care of us.
Thank you for opening your heart to so many people.
Thank you for sharing your faith and your love with everyone around you.
Thank you for being you.
You may have left this world on August 14, 2026, but you did not leave our hearts. Your love, your memories, your faith, and the life you gave to others will stay with us forever.
Rest peacefully, Nancy.
After 63 years of love, you have finally gone home. Go rest high on that mountain, Mom. You are home now, in the arms of your Lord and Savior, reunited with those who went before you.
You were loved. You are missed. And you will never be forgotten.
Until we meet again.
