Doris Evelyn Boggs Tweed, 68, of Leicester, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Born August 29, 1957 in Whitesburg, KY, Doris was a daughter of the late Elmer and Eva O’Telia Osborne Boggs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ellery Bruce Tweed, sister, Pansey Cornett, and brothers, Douglas, Larry and James Boggs.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer Rice (Stacy) and Jim Daniel Tweed “Tweedy” (Melissa); life partner, John Painter; grandchildren, Jordan Bennett, Gracie Tweed, D.J. Vaughn and Maggie Rice; step-grandchildren, Caleb Rice, Tessa Rice and Kerrigan Rice; great-grandchildren, Gracelyn and Austin Gosnell; sister, Eloise Millspaugh; and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mrs. Tweed will be held on Friday, August 7 at 3:00 p.m. in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

    I used to be neighbors years ago with Doris on Ridgeview Road in Leicester. It had been years since I had seen Doris. She was always so sweet & so nice. I just saw her orbit this morning. You all have my condolences. Wish I could be there but I currently have a pinched nerve & not very mobile. Again my sympathy to Doris’s family.

  7. I don’t even know where to begin. Doris was always so kind to me, and I’ll never forget that. I had the chance to work with her a few times, and she was always the same caring, genuine person. I also have so many memories growing up with her family, and I’ll always be thankful for that. She was truly one of the good ones, and I know she will be missed by so many. Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

  9. doris and i met when she became my mothers caretaker. we hit it off instantly as i knew immediately that she was “the one” . she indeed cared for my mothers like her own. i never had a moment that i didn’t know that she was being 110% loved on and cared for. i’m sure her family is going to miss this shining star. may you all have amazing memories that will comfort you as you go on without her.
