Thelma Joyce King Wines, 83, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at The Greens at Weaverville.
A native of Buncombe Co., Thelma was a daughter of the late Earl Howard and Allie Lee Sharpe King. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lucy Jones, Argylle Wells, Jeanette Teague, Marie Parker, and Geraldine Capps; brother, Howard King; and daughter-in-law, Melinda Wines.
Thelma took so much pride in her family. Her legacy will live on with them. She is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Howard Harrison Wines; sons, Mark Howard Wines (Marisa) and Brian Keith Wines; grandchildren, Marty Howard Wines (Chelsey), Jacob Lee Wines, Keithen Eli Wines, and Maci Rose Wines; great-grandson, Colson Howard Wines; and sister, Glenda Henson.
Her family will receive friends beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, at Beulah Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at the church at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Ricky Wolfe and the Rev. Garry Rogers will officiate. The burial will then take place in the church cemetery. Mark Wines, Keith Wines, Marty Wines, Jake Wines, Eli Wines and Tim Reeves will serve as pallbearers.
Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 929 N. Turkey Creek Rd., Leicester, NC 28748.
Her family writes, “While our hearts are broken by her passing, we are incredibly grateful for the years we were blessed to have her. The lessons she taught us, the memories she gave us, and most importantly, the love she poured into our family that will remain with us forever.”

What a wonderful lady she was. Truly a great friend. If you new her you loved her. I loved every moment I got to spend with her. You will be missed. Heaven got a good one. 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️
