Everette W. Clark, Jr.
Candler – June 13, 1941 – June 24, 2026

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'” — Matthew 25:40

In the early afternoon of Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Everette William Clark, Jr., age 85, of Biltmore Lake, North Carolina, entered into the Church Triumphant.

Everette earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina, where he also earned his CPA license.

During his career, Everette worked as a systems analyst and accountant with American Enka Corporation, which later became BASF. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his profession, leading him to serve on the Asheville City Schools Board of Education for seven years, including six years as Board Chairman. Whether in his career or in public service, he was known for his integrity, thoughtful leadership, and dedication to improving the lives of others.

Second only to his love for his family was his devotion to serving the Lord. Everette faithfully served as a Life Deacon and Bible study teacher for 30 years at First Baptist Church Asheville. His greatest passion was the church’s mission’s ministry. In 2004, he answered God’s call to serve those in need and poured his heart into ministering to his community. He established the Lunch at the Crossroads program and, in the years that followed, created an after-school program, expanded the men’s and women’s clothing closets, and grew the church’s food pantry, ensuring that countless individuals and families received assistance with dignity and kindness.

Everette had a generous heart, always placing the needs of others before his own. He possessed a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed and included. His life was a faithful reflection of Christ’s love, and his legacy of compassion, generosity, and service will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

In addition to his parents, Everette and Juanita Clark, Everette was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Wayne Clark, and his grandson, Chris Zachariah Lipe.

He is survived by his beloved wife and one-and-only childhood sweetheart, Julia Fox Clark; his twin sister, Evelyn Clark Black; his daughters, Marsha Clark Lipe (Ronnie) and Julie Clark Weidl (Mike); his grandchildren, Stephanie Lipe King (Barry), Bryan Zebulon Lipe (Hyejin), Madeline Lipe Williams (John), Marshall Hunt Lipe (Katie), Trevor Michael Weidl, and Elizabeth Weidl Stumm (Albert); and his great-grandchildren, Holden Welch King, Lena Olivia Lipe, and Julia Ann Williams.

The family will gather privately for the interment in the Sacred Garden Columbarium at First Baptist Church Asheville prior to the service. A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Everette W. Clark, Jr. will be held at First Baptist Church Asheville on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is honored to be assisting the Clark family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lunch at the Cross Roads Ministry at First Baptist Church, Asheville in Everette’s honor.
