Born on April 9, 1973, in Buncombe County, David was the son of the late Tammy Vaye Monteith and James Harwood.
David owned and operated his own landscaping business for many years and took great pride in his work. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially camping in Shelton Laurel with nothing more than a one-man tent and a sleeping bag. He also loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and spending time in the mountains he called home.
David proudly served a short stint in the United States Army.
In addition to his father, James Harwood, David is survived by his sister, Amber, his Aunt Donna, and his son Gregory, along with other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
David will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his hard work, and his free spirit.
