Ida Louise McIntyre Banks

Ida Louise McIntyre Banks, 76, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

Born in Salisbury and raised in Asheville, Ida was the daughter of the late Isaac Albert and Maebell Stanley McIntyre.

Louise was a woman who left gentleness wherever she went but carried quiet strength underneath it all. She had a wildflower soul with roots deep enough to weather any storm. She loved seashells, purple irises and beanie babies, found beauty in small things, laughed easily, and never said no to ice cream or chocolate. She was a kind hearted, quiet person whose spunkiness would surprise you. She was devoted to her family, fiercely protective when it mattered, stubborn in the moments that required courage, and endlessly selfless in the way she loved and took care of others. Her strong Christian faith guided her and her heart made a home wherever she was. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and nanny, and a steady light to the people fortunate enough to have known her. She will forever be loved and tremendously missed.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jack Banks; daughters, Loretta Woodard, Tammy Baldasaro, and Gina Banks; grandchildren, Nathan Woodard (Lacey) and Nicole Woodard; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey Davis, Abby Robinson, and Damien Robinson.

Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will be held the following day at 11:00 a.m. in the Groce Funeral Home chapel. Chaplain Cy Miller will officiate. Burial will then follow at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Marshall.
