Damien Tyler Hunter Pressley Ahrens, 29, passed away at home on Monday, May 18, 2026. Born in Buncombe County, Damien was the beloved son of Tasha Ahrens and Brian Ezell.
Damien was a quiet soul with a sharp mind, a quick wit, and a heart full of loyalty and love for the people closest to him. He was the kind of person who could do almost anything he set his mind to. A true jack-of-all-trades, Damien could fix nearly anything and enjoyed working with his hands. He could sew, cook, garden, grill, work on cars, and build or repair things with patience and skill. He loved being outdoors, especially in the cold and snow, and dreamed of one day living in Colorado in a small cabin with a farm and animals of his own.
Damien had a deep love for music, especially rock and roll and metal, and he had an extensive collection of music and movies that reflected his sentimental nature. He loved playing guitar, collecting rocks and coins, and finding treasures in antique stores and pawn shops. Some of his favorite memories were exploring shops and eating out with friends while sharing jokes and stories along the way.
He was passionate about games of every kind. Damien loved board games, online games, card collecting, and PlayStation. He also loved anything with wheels — custom builds, souped-up engines, NASCAR, and especially his F-150 truck. He admired craftsmanship and creativity and appreciated anything built with care and character.
Damien loved animals deeply, especially his little orange cat, Gary, who brought him great comfort and companionship.
He proudly served in Singapore and carried a strong sense of honor, honesty, and loyalty throughout his life. Damien was deeply sentimental and held onto the people and things that meant something to him. He was protective of the people he loved, patient beyond measure, and known for telling great stories that could make people laugh for hours. Though quiet by nature, his presence was unforgettable to those who truly knew him.
One of the most important relationships in Damien’s life was the bond he shared with his best friend and brother, Isaiah. Having grown up together, they shared a connection built on years of friendship, loyalty, and love.
In addition to his parents, Damien is survived by his siblings, Dean, Sara, and Emma; his grandmother, Beth; Auntie Suzie; lifelong friends Jamie, Tristan, Ethan, and Gabe; extended family members; and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at CarePartners Hospice, especially Erinn, Carolyn, and Tyler, whose support was immensely appreciated, as well as everyone who has offered prayers, kindness, and support during this difficult time.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

see you on the other side, brother.
Rock on
Damien’s an inspiring man.
The type of guy to go out and do something with his day. To work on something.
To not sit idly by.
He had good taste in music, vehicles and food – whenever talked he seemed well reasoned, sharp and kind of heart.
Damien,
I’m sad to have never met you, and i’ll strive to be more like you. I’ll pray for you tonight.
My sincere condolences to the family, the friends and all those who grieve.
Damien, old friend, you will be missed dearly.
