Jamie Marlene Wells, 49, of Asheville, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on May 14, 2026.

Jamie was born on June 16, 1976, to Darlene Wells Biggs and Guy Wells.

She graduated from Enka High School in 1994, and then went on to A.B. Tech where she received her CNA certificate. She was then a beloved employee at Deerfield Retirement Center.

Jamie leaves behind her husband, Jared House and son Markus; her mom, Darlene Biggs and step-father Charles; her dad, Guy and step-mom Joy; her sister, Vicky Wells and brother-in-law John Satterfield; father-in-law, Lawrence and mother-in-law Hilda House; aunt, Marlene and Tony Barringer, aunt, Patty, uncle, Allan Cogburn, aunt, Jay, and uncle, Ricky Cogburn; cousins, Chris and Missy Blankenship; step-sister, Jenny Paterson and family.

She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Nora Cogburn and Hazel Wells; grandfathers, Howard ā€œShortyā€ Cogburn and Pete Lindsey; aunt, Barbara and uncle, Clarence ā€œBoozerā€ Birmingham.

Jamie was such a sweet, kind and funny lady. She was always laughing. Her nickname was ā€œGiggles.ā€ She loved animals, loved taking care of them and they loved her back. Jamie had a beautiful soul and touched many lives. She will always be in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

Her family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Those in attendance will be given the opportunity to share a brief memory or comment during the service. Burial will then take place at Riverview Church Cemetery.

  3. Words cannot describe how heartbroken I am. I will always hold onto the wonderful memories we shared over the years, and we sure did have a lot. To this day, every time I hear Dolly Parton, I laugh and think about the time you dressed up as her for Halloween and got us all that candy. I honestly can say that every memory we shared together, was always a fun time. Heaven sure did gain a beautiful angel when God called you home. You will forever live in our hearts, Jamie!

  15. Jamie and I were best friends growing up. I remember going to the pool and playing softball together. Those memories will always be special to me. Heaven gained a special person and I was so lucky to have had her in my life.

    We were deeply saddened to hear of your daughter, Jamieā€™s, passing. After Vicky lost her son, Steven, we learned there is no greater sorrow than losing a child and a young loved one.
