Martha "Mott" Mae Payne

Fairview- Martha “Mott” Mae Payne, 86, of Fairview, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Flescher’s of Fairview.

Born in Lake City, FL, she was a daughter of the late Luke Lang and Rosa Ayers Lang. Martha was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles K. Payne as well as her four brothers, Bill, Junior, Harry and David Lang.

A member of Biltmore Church, Martha enjoyed gardening, reading, working in the yard, sewing and loved dogs.

Martha is survived by a daughter, Barbara Payne of Arden; a son, Lewis Payne of Hendersonville; a sister, Faye Taylor of Lake City, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Danny Byers officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
