Gary Mitchell Price, age 69, a veteran of the United States Navy, passed away on April 7, 2026 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.

Mitchell was born on May 23, 1956 to the late Verna Lee Catoe and Paul Price in Monroe, North Carolina. He is also
preceded in death by his older brother, Colby Price, and his beloved dog Free.

Mitchell graduated from Parkwood High School in Monroe, North Carolina, received an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte and a masters degree from Hollins University. He was a social service counselor.

Mitchell is survived by his older sisters, Kathy Rorie (Buck) and Paula Crabill (Chris); nephew, Ian Crabill (April); niece, Megan Frers (Christopher); grandnephew, Sam Crabill; grandniece, Eilidh Jane Crabill; grandnieces, Otillie and Rowen Frers; and friends, Stephanie and Shannon.

A private burial with Military Honors at the VA Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina is planned.
