Robert “Jim” Perry, 78, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away on February 16, 2025, surrounded by those he loved most.
Born on January 28, 1948, in Asheville, Jim spent almost his entire life in the community he loved. He built a long and dedicated career as a truck driver, embracing the open road and especially enjoying long-haul trucking. Jim found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. His favorite activities were spending time at the lake, fishing, visiting Cades Cove, and most of all, being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A devoted member of Asheville Family Church, Jim deeply cherished his church family and found particular comfort and inspiration in the words of the 23rd Psalm. His faith was not just something he professed, it was something he lived out daily through his actions.
He was immensely giving, always willing to go out of his way to help someone in need. Whether through a quiet act of service or a generous gesture, Jim made others feel seen, supported, and valued. He also loved to tell all his tales filled with humor, heart, and just the right touch of mischief. His quick wit and wonderful sense of humor brought laughter wherever he went, and his stories often became cherished memories for those lucky enough to hear them.
Jim was married to his beloved wife, Patsy Perry, for 61 wonderful years. He is survived by his son, Robert Perry Jr. (Libby); his grandchildren, Kyle Perry (Madeline), Kayce Leon (Marco), Camille Robinson, and Brooklyn Robinson; and his great-grandchildren, Elaine Perry, Laikyn and Lyndon Leon, Brock Vance, and Grayson Cornu. He is also survived by his brothers, Ed Owen and Nick Owen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by many loved ones and friends who welcomed him home.
Receiving of friends will be held Friday, February 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Asheville Family Church, 530 New Leicester Highway, Asheville, NC 28806. The funeral service will follow at 12:45 p.m. at the church, with graveside services immediately afterward at Green Hills Cemetery, 25 New Leicester Highway.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asheville Family Church.
Jim’s legacy of generosity, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

His kindness was unmeasurable. Keeping Sister Patsy and family in prayer. Love you all ~ praying you are overwhelmed by peace and comfort.
My brother Jim was a true believer in Lord and family! Jim and Patsy were a real example of how two people lived for each other and cared for each other when both of them were unable to get through life without pain and suffering! Right up to the very end Jim was concerned about Patsy and who would continue to make sure she was taking her medication! When Jim’s son Robbie and granddaughter and grandson promised to provide for Jim’s loving wife Patsy my brother Jim said Lord take me home for I have suffered on earth and now it’s time to go the place where I will no long suffer and will prepare a heavenly home for my beautiful wife, so we can rejoice in our new home without the pain and suffering that we endured on Earth! Amen ❤️Brother Jim I will miss you and thank you for all the loved we have shared durning our life🙏
Jimmy, you held a meaningful place in my father’s life, and because of that, in mine as well. Thank you for the friendship, loyalty, and care you shared with him and our family over the years. Wishing comfort and peace to all who loved you.
Sending love and prayers to the entire family. Patsy, Robbie, Libby and family please know we are praying for strength to get through this valley.
