Jack Alvin Musgrove
May 2, 1949 ~ October 6, 2025
Born in:
Los Angeles, CA
Resided in:
Clyde, NC
Jack Musgrove passed away on October 6, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Musgrove, his children, John Musgrove (Kristi Musgrove) and Anne Rife (Brian Rife), and his grandchildren: Bryant Rife, Kaitlyn Grindstaff, and Elaine Rife.
Jack grew up in Culver City, California and graduated from Cal State Northridge with bachelor’s degrees in quantitative methods and computer science. Following graduation, he married the love of his life, Mary, had his first child, and went on to get his Master of Business Administration at the University of Southern California.
Jack moved to the Silicon Valley and enjoyed the challenges of marketing the constantly evolving technology sector. Outside of work, he supported his kids with their sports and activities, enjoyed his gym time and martial arts, and wrangled house projects he refused to contract out, like designing, maintaining and installing a complex sprinkler system.
For the past 15 years, Jack lived his best life with Mary in North Carolina on top of their mountain, close to his kids and grandkids, and even closer to his heavy equipment and chain saws. Jack enjoyed cutting down dead trees, building roads, designing water management ditches, building benches from wood on his property, planting new trees and making his land beautiful. Jack also enjoyed telling stories, traveling with Mary to different historical sites, the beach, their favorite antique stores, and their grandkids’ activities. He lived his life big and is missed.
There will be a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., EST on Saturday October 18, 2025, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Candler, North Carolina.
The family would like to thank extended family, friends, and neighbors that have provided so much support and love during this time. They are also immensely grateful for the excellent and compassionate care received from the first responders of Fines Creek and Clyde and the ICU team at Mission Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Long’s Chapel Wood Lot that provides families with a source of heat for the winter. Jack spent a lot of his retirement cutting wood for this group and thought its mission important. Alternatively, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a charity Jack supported for many years.
