Born in:
Dayton, Ohio
Resided in:
Zirconia, North Carolina
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Ray Smith, 76, of Zirconia on Thursday, January 2, 2025, in his residence with his family by his side.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry and Helen (Sloan) Smith. He married the love of his life, Dianne (Faught) Smith, in 1975 and shared 49 years of marriage and 2 children with her.
Larry is survived by his wife, Dianne Smith; son, Blake Smith, and his daughter and son-in-law, Audra and Steven Durham; grandchildren, Joseph Schultz, Liam and Emerson Smith, Zooey and Madison Durham; brother and sister-in-law Scott and Tracye Smith.
Larry had a passion for life and working with his hands. He was a woodworker and Blacksmith. There was nothing he could not fix. He loved baseball, old western movies, and classic cars. More than anything, he loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He gave with his entire heart and soul. As we grapple with the loss of his physical presence, we will find solace in the love he instilled in us.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Friends will be received after the service at the funeral home.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

May you be blessed with strength and peace during this difficult time.
Mr. Smith, may you rest in peace and look after your loved ones from heaven.
Psalm 34:18.
I know that in order to have the joy of having you in my life, I now must accept the pain of losing you. The worst pain of my life, but I wouldn’t trade one minute of our life together. Please look for me Honey, one day I’ll see you again. I love you with all my heart. Dianne
