Marvin Gene Lewis Jr.

Marvin “Gene” Lewis, Jr., 68, of Candler, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 9, 2024.

Gene was born in Comanche, OK, on May 4, 1956, to the late Marvin Gene, Sr., and Jewell Stark Lewis.

Gene developed a lifelong love of the outdoors. He loved fishing and would often have his family out on the boat fishing with his grandkids.

At 18 years old, Gene joined the United States Marine Corps. There he served with highest distinction and earned the National Defense Service Medal. Following his honorable discharge with the rank of Private First Class, he returned home to Oklahoma, where he enhanced his skills and became a master carpenter. Gene’s ability to craft beautiful pieces of furniture from wood or create beautiful handmade leather wallets and handbags was his artistic talent.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 17 years, Roseanna Gail Lewis, of Candler; brothers, Vernon Lewis (Tammy) and Charlie Lewis, of Texas, Tommy Lewis, of Kentucky; sister, Sylvia McGinnis, of New Mexico; his children, Amanda Parker (David), Christina Holland (Todd), Shannon Moultry (Binky), and Marvin Gene Lewis, III, all of Texas; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

The graveside service, with Marine Corps honors, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
