Margaret Norton King, 86, passed away on March 21, 2024; and her spouse of 65 years, Charles Jackson King passed away 83 days later on June 12, 2024. They both passed peacefully at home thanks to the loving care from Four Seasons Hospice; private caregiver, Helen Elliott; several night time caregivers from Griswolds Homecare; Brittany from Premier Home Care and of course family and friends.
Charles and Margaret met while they both were attending college at Western Carolina University. They married on June 7, 1959. Margaret went to work as a school teacher, and Charles started his career in the world of finance. Five years later, they welcomed their first daughter, Stephanie on November 7th. They were so happy to have a daughter, but unfortunately they eventually learned that she has extensive physical and mental disabilities. They both became strong advocates for her, and they cared for her in the home for 59 years. She continues to thrive today. Then about 6 years later, their desire to have another daughter came to fruition when they adopted Sonya when she was 10 days old. They provided a strong Christian home for Sonya to grow up.
They were long time members of Arden First Baptist Church where Margaret sang in the choir, and Charles was a deacon. They both loved the Lord very much. At the time of their deaths, they were members of Boiling Springs Baptist Church. Margaret loved to cook, especially for others; and Charles was well-known for his love of golf. Together they had a love for sports, and in their latter years you could always find them watching a sporting event on TV together.
There will be a Celebration of Life on June 29 at 10am at Ravenwood Estates off Old Concord Road. Use 28 Sourwood Lane in Fletcher as your guide. You will reach a gravel drive continue past the house on the right. The place will be on the left where the gravel ends and there will be several signs to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring his memory by making a donation to The ARC of Buncombe County, PO Box 1365, Asheville, NC 28802; or Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
