Richard Martin Pack, 67, of Asheville, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Born in Buncombe County, he was the husband of Susan (Lance) Pack, and the son of the late Howard Delbert and Frances Imajean (Jennings) Pack.

In addition to his wife of 31 years, he is survived by three children: Daniel Pack, Tonya Bowman, and Terra Ward; four grandchildren: Julius Dudley IV, Zyniah Barnes, Riley Bowman, and Grayson Bowman; and one sister, Jeannie Pack.

Richard will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  2. I met Richard over 23 years ago. My nephews grand father, and my sister (Terras) father. I’m so thankful to have met him and to say I’ve been in several settings with him for family gatherings and celebrations. I grew to love him as my family as well. I deeply saddened by his passing. I’ll miss him but to know he’s in heaven blesses spirit. Praying for Susan may God strengthen you through this time. To the rest of the family I’m sorry for your loss and I extend my prayers to you as well. Rest well Richard, you’ve done an amazing job here on earth.

  3. I have work with Richard on several occasions, we was at Sysco foods together and also mountain energy. He was a great friend to me and a wonderful person, go rest with our father Richard, im sure we will see each again. You will be miss my friend !!!!

  4. Pretty sure I remember this gentleman from Tarwheels Skateway, he and his wife used to bring the grandkids all the time. Fine man, spoiled those grandkids with goodies from the snack bar all the time, certain he will be missed.

Memories of playing ball in the fields, running through the woods like a bunch of banshees, sleeping on pallets on the floor while our parents played canasta all night… RIP my “brother from another mother “, your family will be in my thoughts and prayers..❤️

One of the most loyal, humble and caring man I know and I thank him everyday for the valuable things he taught me and my children. The love he showed us will never be forgotten.   10. Richard was always kind, and had a great smile, with a friendly personality to go along with it. He had a way of making the atmosphere a gathering pleasant, and filled with laughter. He continuously sowed seeds of encouragement, kindness, and peace that I believe will continue to spread through humanity like ripples in a pond. A man my husband and I respected immensely!
