Richard R. Ristau, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.
He was born September 5, 1938, in Warren, PA, to Charles F. Ristau and Pauline (Dase) Ristau. He was a 1957 graduate of Warren Area High. He married Carol (Blaski-Colvin) Ristau on February 21, 1959, and remained happily married for 65 years.
He is survived by his wife, two sons: Daniel E. Ristau (Gwen) of Rosman, NC. and Richard M. Ristau (Melinda) of Augusta, GA; two daughters: Gigi L. DeHart (Mike) of Mills River, NC. and April M. Woods (Woody) of Duluth, GA.
“Dick” was preceded in death by his parents and his son, David A. Ristau: 6 brothers, 5 sisters, and several very special nieces and nephews. He was very active right up to the date of his passing, he loved to work outside on his farm acreage and ‘tinker’ in his garden. He also loved to camp, play cards, and spend time with all his wonderful grand & great grandchildren; Brandon Myers, Ashley Williams (Nate), Morgan Jarvis (Corey), Zakery Ristau (Lindsay), Brady Woods, Brooke Woods, Zander Ristau, Hannah Jarvis, Waverly Jarvis, Caroline Casoria, and Lorelai Ristau.
Celebration of life services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Fanning Chapel Church 5490 Haywood Road, Mills River, NC, 28759.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
