Clairene Graham Brown

October 27, 2023
Born in:
Graham County, North Carolina
Resided in:
Arden, North Carolina
Clairene Graham Brown passed peacefully in her home on Friday, October 27th surrounded by her family.
A native of Western North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Charles Goldman Graham and Delia Belle Hyde Graham. She retired from Household International as the Administrative Assistant to the CEO. She was a devout Christian and child of the most high God.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings: Frances Autry, Frankie Crisp, Beatrice Norton and Bill Graham. She is survived by her daughter Marcie Ferg of Arden (Michael); son Joel Brown of Arden (Molly), four sisters, Christine Griffin, Brenda Blythe, Jean Dean, Ruby Pittman; and two beloved grandchildren Lindsay and Brice Ferg.
The family of Clairene wishes to thank each of you for your love and support through the years. A special thanks to her special friend, David Wright.
Born into a family of nine, and the the oldest of five children placed in an orphanage, she was a guiding light to her siblings. After graduation, she always ensured her sisters would have a vacation packed with adventure. Between the mischievous light in her eye and her Grandma Hyde’s strong and independent spirit, her witty personality created laughter for all. Her time spent reading, learning and working crossword puzzles was often complimented by a cup of coffee and meaningful conversation.
She gave her time to others, including hours of volunteering with church, local shelters and on her own. Her benevolence for feeding fried chicken, pinto beans and cornbread not only extended to those she knew, but those she welcomed with open arms. Her welcoming spirit for given and chosen family made her home open to all.
With her infectious laughter and ready smile, she created beautiful memories for those around her. Always generous of her time and heart, she was eager to listen to stories about her loved ones lives and their families.
Not only good and kind
But strong and elevated was her mind
Fond to oblige, too feeling to offend
Loved by all, to all a good friend.
And faithful to her God
Our prayer is that you would be touched by God’s love as much as you were by our mother, Mimi and sister.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 29th in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, followed by a service celebrating her life starting at 3:00 PM. Pastor Timothy Brown will officiate. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 30th at Pisgah View Memorial Park.

Marcie and Joel,
My heart breaks for you both. Loved Clairene so much! Prayers of comfort and peace at this difficult time.
Family, May the Lord be your comforter as only He can help to fill the void.
My thoughts and prayers are with each one of you.
Thank you for the many years as friend and co-worker. You are not be forgotten, rest in peace.
To a wonderful dear friend. Your smile always lit up the room. May God welcome you with open arms. Thank you for all the fond memories.
My aunt Clarine was my mentor, confidant, best friend, and like a mother to me. I’m going to miss those daily talks and your guidance. You were an angel on Earth to all that has known you. Please keep her family in your prayers. They’ll never be another her. Please pray for Marcy Ferg, her daughter, husband Michael, Joel Graham Brown, son, and his wife Molly. Her grandchildren Bryce and Lindsey, and all of her sisters that remain behind. The story of her life is amazing as she was. Heaven will be glorifying her life and her wonderful love for God. I will miss her more than words could express but I’m so glad that she has moved from her earthly home to her mansion. I will see you on the other side Aunt Clarine.
I was so sorry to hear of Clairene’s passing. She was such a sweet, classy lady, a wonderful neighbor to my Aunt Lucy and a friend to all. May God bless you and comfort your hearts and preserve all those precious memories of her.
