Earl and Rose Shelton

Earl Norman and Rose Ann Shelton of Alexander have passed away. Earl, 82, left us on September 18th, 2023 and Rose, 80, followed him just 20 days later on October 8th.

Preceding Earl in death was his mother Francis Josephine Brooks in 1953 and his father Hubert Carlisle Shelton in 1998. Preceding Rose was her father Clarence Wilbert Carroll in 1945, her mother Martha Faucette in 1994, her sister Hazel Alexander in 1975, her sister Christine Engelhardt in 2006 and her brother John Lewis Carroll in 2022.

Earl is survived by his sister and her husband, Marilyn and Curtis Robinson of Buncombe County. Rose is survived by her two children, Sidney Leonidas Dunn Sr. of Virginia and Carol Dunn McDaniel of North Carolina. Rose and Earl were especially proud to be called by “Nenaw and Papaw” by their five grandchildren, Jason Palmer Dunn of Alaska, Tyler Lynn McDaniel of North Carolina and Cecilia Rose Dunn of Virginia. Earl and Rose left their wisdom and earthly possessions to Matthew Tyler Dunn of Tennessee and Sidney Leonidas Dunn Jr. of Alaska, two grandsons they raised.

With no children of his own, Earl was dedicated to his wife Rose, their home and his grandsons. Rose was dedicated to Earl.

Earl and Rose were both laid to rest at Alexander Baptist Church, Earl on September 22nd and Rose on October 11th by Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
