Grover “Leroy” Norton, 83, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023.
A native of Madison Co., NC, Leroy was a son of the late Grover Carl and Elizabeth Smith Norton. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Norton Smith and Louise Norton Pike (“Ham”).
Mr. Norton retired from American Enka/BASF as a supervisor. He was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling in his motorhome and camping with his family and close friends, drawing and painting, and singing gospel music.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ines Black Norton; daughters, Lisa Norton Robinson (Roger), Kim Norton Wallin, and Angie Norton Parcell (Brian); son, Scott Norton (Diana); grandchildren, Michael, Wesley, Lyndsey, Chloe, Caeley, Paige, Grant and Xander; great-grandchildren, Gaige, Jayce, Hank, Jax, and Mason; brother, Ben Norton (Sharon); brother-in-law, Hubert Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Norton’s family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at West Asheville Baptist Church. The funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Associate Pastor Tony Hooper. Burial will then take place at Big Sandy United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
