Roy Lee Wall, 64, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

A native of Rutherford Co., Roy was a son of the late Robert Lee Wall and grandson of the late Margaret “The Chief” Hill.

Mr. Wall was a devoted family man, who loved to hike, watch football, and his dogs. He was a long-time member of Grace Baptist Church. Roy retired as a meteorologist with the U.S. Government.

Surviving is his wife, Janet Silvers “Boss” Wall; daughters, Courtney Wagoner (Todd) and Andrea Garland (Gary); son, Robert Wall; grandchildren, Jordan, Allie, Levi, Jazlyn, Issac, Logan and Emmie; and a sister, LuAnn Wall Gaddy (Duane).

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverside Village Homes, PO Box 897, Black Mountain, NC 28711.

  5. I had the pleasure of working with Roy at the Air Force unit in Asheville. He would find a picture from a tv show or movie and photoshop in the member’s face as a going away gift. We all looked forward to seeing what he came up with. I remember him using the Beverly Hillbillies, Star Trek, MASH, etc to name a few. We all wondered if we would end up in the picture…of course, some of us did. He was a wonderful person.

  6. I worked with Roy when I was active duty Air Force. I had the distinct pleasure of appearing as Lurch in one of Roy’s photoshop creations. They were a lot of fun, you never knew who was going to be next! He was a great person and always had a pleasant word to say to anyone. He was a lot of fun to work with. I’m so very sorry for your loss.

  9. We have fond memories of Roy from working with him for many years while in the Air Force. We are also proud owners of and participants in some of Roy’s photoshop art. He brought joy to a lot of people through his artistic gifts. Thinking of you during this very difficult time and sending you our deepest condolences. Our hearts are with you, Janet.

  11. So sorry to hear this sad news. I remember my days of working with him when I was active duty Air Force. He was always so nice and kind. Praying for Janet and the extended family.
