Joyce LaVonne Varme Erickson

Joyce LaVonne Varme Erickson, 93, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at her residence in Asheville.

Born and raised in Des Moines, IA, until moving to Asheville 4 years ago, Joyce was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Viola Varme also of Des Moines,IA.

Joyce worked in the insurance industry for Bankers Life (now Principal) as an underwriter for 20 years. She shared a love of sports, especially baseball, with her husband Paul.

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Paul N. Erickson Sr.; son, Paul N. Erickson Jr.; daughters, Nancy Luxen, LuAnn Adams, and Janice Drinkwine; brother, John Varme; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
