Allison Christine Kobar was born February 21, 1995, and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on February 21, 2023. Allison was profoundly loved by her parents, John Michael Kobar and Mechelle Henderson Kobar. She will remain the brightest light in their lives as she lives now in their hearts.
For someone to be so limited in her communication, Allison touched many, many people in her 28 years. Her smile and laugh could fill up a room, to know her was to love her. Her life, her unique gifts, her wordless love, was an inspiration to all who knew her and thousands who never will.
This amazing young lady defied all odds in her young life with a tremendous amount of care by her wonderful and caring past and present nursing team. We are truly grateful for all of her nurses but especially her most recent nurses Cheryl Ferguson (Mom #2/26 years), Blair Wirkkala (21 years), Ananda Sykes (4 years) and Abigail Godfrey (7 months). We also thank all the important members of “Allison Inc.”, her Doctors, Nurses, Teachers, Therapists, Attorneys, Accountants, Family and Friends.
Allison attended the PEP Program at Estes Elementary School for a short time and was even featured on WLOS with John Le as the first student in Buncombe County to skype into classrooms at Asheville Middle and High School. She went on numerous field trips, and even caught the biggest fish and was so proud of that. She also loved her numerous trips to Disney World with Dad, Mom and Nurse Cheryl. Allison enjoyed being read to, learning, listening to music, helping with arts and crafts, horse therapy, water therapy, manicures, pedicures and her visits to the salon.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Joe and Susan Allman; her aunt and uncle, Ron and Julie Westman; aunt, Tina Henderson; and cousins, Brittany, Brooke and John Michael Campen. She is predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Kolman and Martha Kobar.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Pat Cahill at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at St. Eugene’s Catholic Church, 72 Culvern Street, Asheville, NC 28804.
In lieu of flowers, Allison’s family asks that guests donate to the St. Eugene Church Capital Building Campaign.
The family will be wearing purple to the Celebration of Allison’s Life and invites guests to join in wearing her favorite color in her honor.

Allison was the true picture of love. Mechelle and John were truly wonderful loving parents. Allison was cared for with strong loving hands and heart. I think of the times she gave part of her beautiful hair to “Locks for Love”,
which helped other children. Allison will be in our heart forever. What an impression this wonderful little girl left with everyone who knew her. Sending LOVE beautiful Allison and family. You all are in my prayers.
I was so deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Allison. I enjoyed working with her and doing therapy with her when she was young. She has always held a special place in my heart. You are wonderful parents, and you always welcomed me warmly into your home. There is no doubt in my mind that you did everything you could for Allison and gave her a wonderful life experience. I keep thinking that I can’t wait to hug, run, dance, and talk with her when we get to heaven too one day. What a blessing that will be! You remain in my prayers during this very sad and difficult time. Christina Howard (Occupational Therapy ACS)

We are unable to attend Allison’s Mass today, but we send our prayers and love. Allison touched my heart is a very special way. I remember meeting her during a SEY Night and asking her about her favorite books, and at the time it was Twilight, I believe, then when she would come to work with you and would greet everyone, and even the time we dressed up for Halloween.
Allison is loved and will be missed.
In Christ’s love,
Andrea and Abel
