Resided in:
Asheville, NC
LouAnn Fields Stover, age 69 of Asheville, NC left her earthly body early morning of Saturday, February 4, 2023. She was at home surrounded by her loving family.
LouAnn was born in Fayetteville, Georgia on August 1, 1953. She always spoke of the wonderful childhood memories she had with her mom, dad, and brother Bruce. She loved playing in their backyard, swimming in the pool and she could outrun any boy in a race.
LouAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Corine Fields and sister-in-law, Myra Fields. She is survived by a large family who love her very much. Her husband of 42 years, Chester Stover, brother Bruce Fields and nieces, Courtney and Taylor Fields of Knoxville, Tennessee. LouAnn has four children and many grandchildren who were the light of her world. Darah Wilson (Aric), Rebecca Ikeme (Chuma), Jacob Stover (Candice), Katie Mobley (Jon). Her grandchildren: Ariana, Arin, Makhi, Josiah, Zion, Emmeline, Asher, Cayden, Rakease, Kaylee, and Sophia. She loved and deeply touched each of these children and grandchildren. She is also survived by three stepchildren, Chester Jr., Mary, and Sara and several related grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Ellie and special friend, Susan Jenkins.
LouAnn taught school for many years, most recently at Grassy Branch Preschool. She had a gift for working with children. She impacted both the lives of her students and co-workers with her dance-offs, laughter and creativity.
She loved her grandchildren immensely and had a unique connection with each of them. She has played an essential role in all of their lives and made each feel special. She was always their number one fan by yelling and cheering them on at their sporting/dance events.
She enjoyed working in her yard, sitting on her back porch with her friend Susan, going to dinner with her husband, going out on the weekends with her children and grandchildren to shop and look around, and doing household projects. She had a tender heart for animals and a deep love for plants.
She was a loving wife, mom, gammy, sister, aunt, and friend to so many that will cherish her memories forever. She loved with pride and her lioness energy, and she was truly the matriarch of the family. The family can’t quite grasp the loss at the moment but knows where she is and that they will run into her arms again one day. Until then, all will remember her by her wit, funny personality, dancing, singing, and infectious laugh.
Please continue to hold the family in the light. LouAnn, Mommy, Gammy, keep dancing.
Please join her friends and family for a celebration of life at 11am on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Groce Funeral Home, 856 Tunnel Rd, Asheville, NC 28805. A visitation will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Place Fellowship Church in Fairview.

My dear sweet friend you will live forever in my heart ❤️
Precious sister-in-law we will miss greatly. Yes, her laugh was among my favorite.
Until we meet again at Jesus feet and we will because of His Life He gave for us on the cross to have eternal life.
We pray for all the family and dear brother Chester.
Some of my best childhood memories were spent with LouAnn in her back yard and on her back porch. One of the funniest and greatest mothers and grandmother I ever knew. I always enjoyed spending time as a kid at The Stover’s. I still remember their landline phone number. Lol! Dara, Rebecca, Jacob, and Katie were like my brother and sisters in the neighborhood. I’m so sorry you lost her so soon! Love you guys!

This sweet lady touched the lives of so many. She taught one of my children and 2 of my grandchildren at Beverly Hills & Grassy Branch preschools. SO MANY children and families have been blessed by her teaching and will continue to be impacted for years to come. She was the wittiest, smartest, funniest lady, not to mention best dancer ever! Family, we know this is a huge loss and share in your grief. We love you all and will continue to pray for each of you.
I have always thought of LouAnn as my second mom. Even running straight to her house as soon as I found out I was having my boys. I have never once been around her and not left with a stomach ache from all the laughing. All of the memories will never leave me. We all love her not as a friend but as family. We will continue to pray for all of you and know we are just a phone call away.
My heart goes out to all of you. LouAnn was an amazing lady and touched so many lives in the very best way. I’m grateful I had the chance to know her.

We were so saddened to learn of the passing of Lou Ann. Peace and comfort to all the family at this time and the times ahead. She as an angel on earth and now in heaven. Her smile was so wonderful and we are glad to have known her for many years. She is God’s angel now. Continued prayers for the family.
Chester, Bruce and families. So sorry to hear of your loss. May God be with all of you.
Our deepest sympathy to our brother Chester and each of the children he and LouAnn raised so well; the beautiful grandchildren as well.
This precious lady’s positive impact and influence extended far beyond the confines of her own home though. LouAnn was loved by so many people. We were blessed to know her, love her, and call her sister-in-law for over forty years.
Thanks be to God through Jesus, we will see LouAnn again some day in a far far better world.
Love,
Jim & Susie
