Aela loved expressing herself through the full palette of rainbow colors. A free spirit, she could be found climbing trees in full fairy regalia, rappelling down 275-foot waterfalls, or bopping along to a wide array of musical grooves. She was deeply empathic and had fierce compassion for all beings that were suffering in the world. Aela was the author of “Snakes Take Dates” in 2008 and co-author of “The Adventures of Snaily McSniggins” in 2014.

A memorial service will be held at Laughing Waters Retreat Center located at 3963 Gerton Highway (State Route 74), Gerton, NC 28735 on Sunday, November 20, 2022. Gathering for the service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the memorial at 2:45 p.m. followed by a reception to honor Aela and fireside wake of music, stories, and poetry.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Jeremy Schewe (18 Wood Ridge Lane, Asheville, NC 28806) that will be distributed as scholarships to Earth Path Education or Journeymen Asheville, both non-profit local organizations contributing to the uplift and positive growth of our adolescent young women and men.
