Sara Reed Searcy was promoted to Heaven on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
Mrs. Searcy was a lifelong resident of the Fairview community and a daughter of the late Oscar and Cora Reed. She was married to the love of her life, Jack Searcy, for 53 years. Jack died in 1999.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Frizsell; five sisters, Ailene Reed, Marie Mason, Nell McIntyre, Mabel Randall, and Louise Justice; and three brothers, Zeb, Claude, and Vernon Reed.
Mrs. Searcy was a faithful member of Bethany United Methodist Church, where she also taught a Sunday school class for many years before retiring from teaching in 2010. She was a “farmer’s daughter,” and believed in hard work. Her friends will always remember her gardens, the beautiful flowers, and manicured lawn.
Mrs. Searcy is survived by her former son-in-law, Larry Frizsell; granddaughter, Sherida Buchanan and husband Jason; great-granddaughter, Jenny Louise Buchanan; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday in the Lake Julian chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The Revs. Don McIntyre will officiate and interment will follow at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or to one’s favorite charity.

Ms. Sara was the epitome of a sweet Christian lady. She was always the same, kind and caring. Thank you, Sandy and Bruce, for your care for her over the years. She was well-loved.
