Sidney Donald Marlow

Sidney Donald Marlow of Rutherford County went to be with the Lord Jesus on Sunday, October 9th, after an unexpended illness at home.

Just shy of his 78th birthday, Sidney was born in Buncombe County to the late Herman and Beatrice Nesbitt Marlow. He is preceded in death by one brother, Luther and wife Rosalind, sister-in-law Louise and nephew Jason Marlowe. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda, his daughter Monique Nicholson and husband Rob, son, Blake and wife, Mindy of Tucson, AZ. Grandchildren are Emily Nicholson, Noah Coy Knight Marlow, Noah Paul and Chloe Nicholson, and Charlotte Faye Marlow. He had one great-grandchild, Georgia Nicholson. Also surviving are brothers Bobby and wife, Sharon, Ray, David, and one sister, Judy and husband, Mike Quiones. Brothers-in-law are Paul Jr. and Tim Marlowe with wife, Sharon. A sister-in-law is Lynne with husband, Dewayne Searcy, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sidney was a committed member of Nesbitt Chapel Church serving as superintendent of Sunday school and numerous committees. He went on many short-term missions traveling to Central and South America, Europe, as well as Africa. Here in the U.S. he traveled to Alaska, Arizona, Kentucky, and North and South Carolina.

Having a career in masonry work, Sidney was instrumental in building churches, schools, facilities for feeding programs and medical services.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather spending time with the family playing cards and fishing. He also enjoyed puttering around the home and helping neighbors.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 14, 2022, at Nesbitt Chapel Church at 11:00 am. The family will visit with friends and relatives over a covered dish meal in the educational building next door right after the service.
