Born in:
Rabun Co, GA
Resided in:
Candler, NC
Victor “Vic” Burren Moss went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 17th, 2021.
He was born in Clayton, Ga. On May 1st, 1949, but lived most of his life in Candler, N.C.
Vic was preceded in death by his father, Gus Burren Moss, and his mother, Ada Bentley Moss.
Surviving are his four children who cherished him so much: sons, Barry Moss, and Andy Moss (Amanda), and daughters, Tracey Reyes (Gomer), and Audrey Moss. Their daddy was their hero and they were so proud to be his children. He also leaves behind his ex-wife and good friend, Rosemary LeQuire, and her mother, Helen Boone, who he thought of as a second mother.
He was “papaw” to 9 grandchildren: Alex, Eric (Jessica), Adam, Ezekiel, Sammy, Maddie, Kate, Charlie and Gabriel Moss. Vic was very close with his siblings and they include: Talatha Moss, Velma Crowe, Randy Moss, Sherman Moss, and Diana Warren. Brother in law, Bud Crowe, whom he thought of as a brother and sister in law, Jackie Moss, whom he adored. He leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who all had a special place in his heart.
Vic was a Sergeant for the Henderson County Sheriff’s department for many years. He was shot in the line of duty on Thanksgiving Day 1986, during the county’s largest manhunt in history. He went on to work for the Buncombe County Sheriffs department and retired in 2003 as a Lieutenant.
Vic had a comical personality and a great sense of humor. He also loved to hunt with his sons, grandsons and his buddies. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons and nephews.
On most weekdays, you’d likely find Vic on job-sites with Barry, Andy and Alex. Then it was off to lunch of course!
Vic read his bible daily and he enjoyed listening to his friends, The Primitives, play and sing. He loved teachings by Les Feldick and Pastor Ralph Sexton Jr. He visited Trinity Baptist Church as much as he could and had recently been going to Harmony Grove Baptist Church.
Victor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, September 27 at Trinity Baptist Church and the serviced will streamed live by the church at www.tbc.live. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Burial will be private.
