Charles “Harry” Stains, 79, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021.
A native of Montrose, CO, Harry was a son of the late John and Mae Miller Stains.
Mr. Stains was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired at age 56 from long distance trucking, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville. Harry faithfully drove buses for Trinity Baptist Church and for CrossFire Ministries Basketball Camps. He also worked at Gudger’s Flower Shop for 30 years.
Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Earlene West Stains; brother-in-law, David West; aunt, Gladys Davis; and a number of cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Pastor Allen Rash officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
