Judy Kaye Peak Canter, 74, of Asheville, passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 at her home.
A native of Richlands, VA, Judy was a daughter of the late Lee Frank Peak and Lois Agnes McCray Peak.
Judy, along with her husband Charles, was the joint owner of Legacy Makers, Inc. of Asheville. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Judy was first and foremost a Christ follower, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
As a teenager she was active in Christ Ambassadors and sang in a sextet. After marrying Charles, they moved to various cities as his position warranted. In early adulthood she was an office manager, licensed cosmetologist , and owned and operated Shenandoah Catering.
As a ministry of the church she taught Straight Arrows and many Sunday School classes with Charles. In addition, she and her Mother had a weekly ministry to the senior citizens of the church where they provided home cooked meals as well as entertainment and games.
Judy will be remembered for her fierce commitment and love for her family. She was generous to a fault and modeled the sweet spirit of her Lord to those around her. Her family will miss her dearly, but take solace in knowing she is free from suffering and has seen her Savior face to face.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Wesley Canter; daughter, Katrina Doreen Hines Heath and husband, Dan; son, Cameron Wesley Canter and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Grant and Tori Canter, and Zachary Hines (Kayla); brothers, Ronnie Lee Peak (Jackie) and Samuel Vaughn Peak (Shelby); and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
