Asheville Butterfly TrailKilbert Lockwood, 91, passed away March 2, 2020 in Asheville.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lucile and is survived by his son, daughter-in-law and daughter.
He was a graduate of the US Military Academy, a proud 30-year Army veteran and educator. Kilbert will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father and dedicated friend.
At his request, there will be no public service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your own favorite charity.

So sorry many sympathies and prayers
I assisted Bert with equipment when he taught history classes at UNCA. He was such a gentleman and will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Colonel Lockwood, a modest man who made great contributions to the defense of our country and to the community where he lived. In 20 years I knew him at the University, he offered at least 20 great courses on history which I enjoyed. He will be missed.

I met Bert when I started working for him as his secretary in 1983. He made such an impression on me; always a perfect gentleman towards me, generous, kind, caring and what a sense of humor. We have kept in touch for 37 years and I’m so saddened to hear of his passing. I will always consider Bert and his lovely wife Lucile, as part of my family. They surround me in my home with the many beautiful gifts I’ve received over the years from them, and it makes me smile to think of how lucky I am to have known them both. My sincere sympathies to John, Anna and their family.
