Ray Junior McPeters, 79, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020.
Born March 16, 1940 in Old Fort, NC, Ray was a son of the late McKinley and Mary Thomas McPeters.
Mr. McPeters was a member of the Mt. Mitchell Bear Hunting Club, and was an avid CB radio operator: “Waco” was his handle.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene Wilson McPeters; daughter, Gina Groseclose (Rollin); grandson, Jacob Groseclose; sisters, Mary Harris and Shirley Boles (Raymond); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. McPeters will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Enjoyed Juniors friendship for many Bear Hunting seasons, he was always upbeat about everything. I have many memories of him on the mountain. Wish I could shake his hand one more time. As they say, Gone but not forgotten.
