Asheville Butterfly TrailJerry Michael West, 71, of Winston Salem, NC, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020.
A native of Asheville, Jerry was a son of the late Lester William and Hazel Reed West. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gabriele Bornstedt West.
Mr. West was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam.
Surviving are his sons, Christopher, Steven, and Brian West, and his brother, Larry West.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, at Ridgeway Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jackie Collins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Purple Heart Homes, PO Box 5535, Statesville, NC 28687.

Jerry West was a Enka Village Kid. He lived on Orchard St. Jerry was a good Christian.
I will remember many good times with Jerry and thankfully seeing him in good spirits not long ago. Best of thoughts to you all. Myra Wiggins Grant

I am so very sorry you lost your Dad. I enjoyed getting to know your Mom and Dad when they lived in Chattanooga. Sweet folks you are in my prayers during this difficult time.

I just found out about Jerry’s passing. The last time I saw him, was at his mother’s graveside service.
He grew up with many of us kids in Enka Village and will be missed in our hearts. He and Gaby were
very good friends to me and my husband. To the family goes our deepest condolences and prayers.
