Boyd Andrew "B.A." Harrison

Boyd A. Harrison, B.A. as he was affectionately called by his friends and family, 85, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019, (his birthday) at Carolina Pines of Asheville Health Care facility.

Boyd was born in South Carolina to the late Effort and Joyce Ann Adams Harrison. Groce Funeral Home was proud to have Boyd associated with the firm for a number of years, and he also worked for Colonial Bakery and more recently as a driver for United Van Lines.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Werts Irvine; daughter, Francena Griffith, of Asheville; step-daughters, Caroline Willis, Jenetta Jackson and Deborah Moore, all of Cincinnati; step-sons, Reuben Hayden (Dejait) Irvine, of Durham, and Douglas Moore, of Asheville; sister, Elizabeth (Eugene) Galloway, of Asheville; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grand and great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Hill Street Baptist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

The family expresses their appreciation to the staff of Carolina Pines for the loving care they provided to Mr. Harrison.

God saw the road was getting rough,
The hills were hard to climb,
So he closed his eyelids

You slipped away so quietly without telling us goodbye.
