Naomi Rash Martin

Naomi Virginia Rash Martin, 81, of 29 Tryon Street, Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 5, 2002. Mrs. Martin was born May 14, 1921, in Lockhart, SC, to the late C. E. and Addie Foster Rash. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Tommy, LG and Juby Rash and by a sister, Ruth Cash. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed flowers and gardening. She is survived by her husband, Paul Maloy Martin of Asheville; a son, Paul Martin, Jr. and his wife Sheila of Asheville; two daughters, Sherry Gryle and her husband David of Arden and Sheila Ponder and her husband Terry of Leicester; four brothers, Lemar, Calvin, Doise and Verlon Rash, all of Asheville; eight grandchildren, Tim Gryle, Jon Gryle, Scott Martin, Matthew Gryle, Shannon Messer, Greg Martin, Jeremy McElrath and Britani Ponder and one great-grandchild, Marissa Messer. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Richard Baird and G.E. Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will recieve friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
