Cora Myrtle Creasman, 74, of 1 Battle Square, Asheville, died Thursday, February 10, 2005, at the Hospice Solace Center. Mrs. Creasman was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Gurney D. and Cora Penley Smith. She was also preceded in death by a sister Flonnie Bailey and a brother Planey Smith. Mrs. Creasman worked in the hospitality industry for many years and was retired from the Comfort Inn at River Ridge and the Mountain Information Center. She was a member of Bent Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter Janice Daniels and her husband Nick of Asheville; one son Gary Lance and his wife June of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Athalene Owenby and her husband Grady of Arden and Lois Arrowood and her husband Charles of Fairview; one brother, G.D. Smith and his wife Janice of Fairview; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen McKinney officiating. Her family will receive friends immediately following the service and suggest that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813, or to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building One, Asheville, NC 28801.
