Charlie E. King, 97, of Martin Branch Road, Leicester, died
Wednesday, November 27, 2002.
Mr. King was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Ed and Leona Sperling King. He was a former tobacco and cattle
farmer and was a member of Trinity
Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Vergie Ball King; one daughter, Shirley Gossett and her husband Wayne of Leicester; three sons, Charles J. King and his wife Margaret of Arden, Edward J. King and his wife
Wylma Jean of Weaverville, and
Gerald W. King and his wife Karen of Leicester; one brother, Fred King of Leicester; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Bob Doom and Ralph Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial
will be at Big Sandy United Methodist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
