  10. To the family of Mr. Charlie Tate,
We were so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Tate. A few months ago he came into our store and we all became good friends. He had asked us to come over to see a table he was thinking about asking us to consign for him but ended up giving us a three hour grand tour of his home and possessions. He was so proud of each piece and showed us how he carefully had left a piece of paper on each item so that his family would know the history and worth of each . It was obvious how proud he was when he talked about his family, antiques and Unc Chapel Hill. He advised us on ways to improve our business and fussed at me when I gave him an old piece of wood with three fishing lures attached because he said it had been ruined the worth of the lures by whomever glued them on the wood (ha!). When I told him I had made it for him he said ´well you did ruin it but I will treasure it since you made it. Ha! In the short time we knew him he had become a friend, mentor and advisor. We were enriched by his knowledge, humor and friendship and were so saddened to hear of his passing. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
    Sincerely,
Kaye Youngblood, Ellen Schwab and Susan Brady and everyone at The Garage on 25

  11. Rick, Chuck & Tami,
I just learned of the passing of Charlie which was 5 months ago today. My heart goes out to all of you. I remember Charlie very well. When I would visit Rick at his home on Overlook and Hendersonville Road, (now
Golds Gym) I have nothing but fond memories of Charlie and his entire family. He LOVED sitting in his living room on a Saturday afternoon with a fire in the fireplace, watching golf etc. He was always willing to show me his collection of hickory golf clubs that he had, some mounted on the wall. He was well admired by all who knew him. He loved his family and was dedicated to his work. The last time I saw him was on the golf course and he definitely knew where the ball was going. Rick, I always thought you would go pro and I could boast about someone I knew growing up who would turn professional. My thoughts and prayers, even after 5 months, still go out to you. I’m sure that ‘on the other side’ you will all be together teeing it up at the finest gold course in the universe. Stay strong to all.
