Rex William Sluder, 88, of Leicester, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019, at his home. A native of Buncombe Co., Rex was a son of the late Clyde and Fannie Foster Sluder. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Glenna Rubino and Mildred Culbertson, and brothers, Clyde Ray Sluder and Van Sluder. Mr. Sluder was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea. He and his wife had a furniture upholstery business together for over 50 years. Surviving are his wife, Georgia Capps Sluder; daughters, Linda White, Brenda Shelton (Roger), and Denise Seager (Duke); son, Leonard Sluder; brothers, Bill and Riley Sluder; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Sluder will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Christopher Seager officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

  6. Duke, Denise and family; I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. I have always thought he was one of the kindest and most respectful men I ever met. A true gentleman. He did some upholstery work for me a few times many years ago. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
