Harold L. Sweitzer

Harold L. Sweitzer, 66, of Asheville, passed away unexpectedly at his home. Born in Williamsport, PA on November 24, 1951, he was the son of Eva Belle (Lehman) Sweitzer and of the late Carl R. Sweitzer. A longtime resident of the Asheville area, Harold was a retired chemical engineer. Yet his passion was the community work that he did, especially in feeding those who are homeless, and working with the senior center. Harold was a founding charter member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Fairview. In addition to his mother, Harold is survived by his brother Loren of Pennsylvania, and his son, Patrick and his wife Ciera of Leicester. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Abiding Savior Luther Church, 801 Charlotte Hwy, Fairview. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beloved Homeless Service, Attn: Amy, 39 Grove St., Asheville, NC 28801, and/or to Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 801 Charlotte Hwy, Fairview, NC 28730.
