Vever Stevenson Jones

Vever Godfrey Stevenson Jones, 92, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018. A native of Spartanburg, SC, Vever was a daughter of the late William and Mary Anders Godfrey. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Marion J. Stevenson and Frank E. Jones, and her daughter, Martha S. Ramsey. Mrs. Jones was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, where she served as the church pianist. Surviving are her daughters, Ruby S. Brookshire and husband Ronnie, and Kathryn Lawrence and husband Butch; son, Gerald Stevenson and wife Ellen; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. The Rev. Rodney Franklin and Rev. Danny Sprinkle will officiate. Interment will follow at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
