Mary Joyce Coffey Tweed, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 23, 2018. Born in Asheville, Mrs. Tweed was a daughter of the late James M. and Sadie Greene Coffey and she was also preceded in death by a brother, James Coffey. She had worked as a benefits administrator for several area doctors, including Drs. Stevens and Lunsford and Drs. Rosenburg and Pozner. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church where she formerly sang in the choir and was a member of the Praise & Prayer Sunday School Class. Her family include her husband of 44 years, Raymond R. Tweed; daughters, Mandy Tweed and Hillary Tweed Pennstrom and her husband, Zack; sister, Charlene McConnell and her husband, John; sister-in-law, Sharon Coffey, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Her family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at West Asheville Baptist Church with a funeral services to follow at 7:00 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Stan Welch will officiate with the Rev. Dr. Carson Moseley as vocalist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

  4. I will always love her. Joyce was a sister to me, the one I never had biologically. So caring, so loving. Prayers continually for Raymond, Mandy, Hillary, Charlene, Donna… and all who love her. Prayers for peace and comfort. I love you all.

  8. Joyce was always such a sweet cousin. When I think of her ,I always remember her special smile and laugh. I kniw ,without a doubt ,that she is home in heaven with her parents and brother.My prayers are with her family and allof us who will miss her.

Her smile and her humor came from that loving heart. I know each one of you are struggling for answers for her sudden and unexpected loss.   20. I was deeply saddened to hear if Mary’s unexpected an untimely passing. I was one of her evening shift CNAs at Pisgah Valley. Mary loved her family and her husband.She was a pleasure to care for! Heartfelt prayers for the family and friends.
