Mary Joyce Coffey Tweed, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 23, 2018. Born in Asheville, Mrs. Tweed was a daughter of the late James M. and Sadie Greene Coffey and she was also preceded in death by a brother, James Coffey. She had worked as a benefits administrator for several area doctors, including Drs. Stevens and Lunsford and Drs. Rosenburg and Pozner. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church where she formerly sang in the choir and was a member of the Praise & Prayer Sunday School Class. Her family include her husband of 44 years, Raymond R. Tweed; daughters, Mandy Tweed and Hillary Tweed Pennstrom and her husband, Zack; sister, Charlene McConnell and her husband, John; sister-in-law, Sharon Coffey, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Her family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at West Asheville Baptist Church with a funeral services to follow at 7:00 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Stan Welch will officiate with the Rev. Dr. Carson Moseley as vocalist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

  1. I will always love her. Joyce was a sister to me, the one I never had biologically. So caring, so loving. Prayers continually for Raymond, Mandy, Hillary, Charlene, Donna… and all who love her. Prayers for peace and comfort. I love you all.
