Kay "GANNY" Ponder was a lifelong resident of Asheville where she grew up in very humble circumstances that forged a lifelong appreciation of life’s greatest gift Loving One Another. Kay had a determined spirit that was matched only by her love for her family especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very determined person who finished her education many years after raising her family. She was loved by all. She loved her dogs and living in Mills River where she lived out her final years with her Daughter Kim and Son in Law Dean. She is predeceased by her parents Blaine and Thelma Hammond and her husband Houston Ponder, as well as her sister Waynette Carver and brother Jim Hammond. She is survived by her sisters, Lou Edmonston and Janice Morrow; children, Kim Matthews Crisp her husband Dean and Stanley Brett Ponder his wife Lori; five grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Able, Chloe and Max; four great-grandchildren, Parker, Addie, Ada and Josie; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Her extended family was also very important to her. The family wants to thank everyone for the love and support shown to Kay in her last years, especially Robert Carver, John Griffin, Loretta Dodson, Gary Oshields, Connie Smith and Care Partners. Services will be at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Monday February 12th with visitation at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
