Arnold Taylor, 95, of Asheville, died Thursday, December 7, 2017. A native of Buncombe Co., Arnold was a son of the late Melvin and Nancy Caine Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Tipton Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Western Carolina University and was a teacher at North Buncombe High School. He was also a member of Abernethy United Methodist Church. Surviving are his sister, Katherine Turbyfill (Bill) of Candler; brother, Harold Taylor (Phyllis) of New Richmond, Ohio; many wonderful nieces and nephews; and Lilah Price who was like a granddaughter to him. The family would like to thank the three outstanding caregivers who assisted Arnold. Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard in Fletcher. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abernethy United Methodist Church, 1418 Patton Ave., Asheville, NC 28806, or CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

  2. I was looking through my photo album and ran across a photo I took of Mr. Taylor (99th Infantry Division Assoc) in the Washington DC Memorial Day parade in 2013, and I wondered how he was doing. Upon searching on the Internet, I discovered his recent passing. I have a lovely photo of him riding in his jeep in the parade, if you’d like a copy. (I am assuming this is the same Arnold Taylor.) Condolences to the family on your loss of a wonderful man.
