Margaret L. Hager Arden - Margaret Lucille Hager, 87, of Arden, died Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Brookdale Asheville Overlook. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late C.E. Bane and Viola Burnette Bane. Margaret was also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Hager, who died in 1993, as well as one sister and three brothers. Margaret is survived by two daughters, Pamela DeFriess of Mebane, NC and Candace Bossendorfer (Luke) of Burbank, CA; one son, Wayne Hager (Mary) of Columbus, NC; four grandchildren, Natalie, Jonathan, Bowie and Rain as well as several nieces and nephews. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Asheville Overlook for the kindness and compassion shown towards Margaret. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 26 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. The family graciously asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Margaret’s memory to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
